Pump Station Rebuild Project

Pump Station Rebuild Project

Recently, our team at G.E. Mechanical completed a successful Pump Station Rebuild project that services a Residential; Housing Development. This project involved installation of an emergency bypass pump, coordinating installation of a new (3) phase power supply for the station to replace the existing (1) phase service, installation of under-ground electrical service, control panel replacement/relocation, pump replacement, and dry well restoration/cleaning. This project unfolded on an emergency basis with limited time to design and install the above as the station could no longer function on it’s failed pumps. To minimize pump clogs and lower future maintenance costs for the customer chopper pumps with de-ragging capability were installed. This function allows the pumps to self-clear should a clog be detected by the de-ragging controller.

Details of Pump Station Rebuild Project:

Our experienced team of technicians utilized a variety of specialized equipment to efficiently complete the project. This equipment included:

Pump Truck: Truck used to allow re-piping of dry well to accommodate bypass pump, new pumps, and allow for installation of emergency bypass pump connection, which was not initially installed at the station, all while never disrupting use of facilities for the customer.

Confined Space Equipment: Utilized for the duration of the project for all confined space trained entrants and attendants when working in the existing dry well

Excavator/Vactor: Utilized to install underground conduit for electrical service. Hydro excavation used to navigate around existing utilities in the path of the new conduit.

This project highlights our flexibility and knowledge to accommodate and resolve one of the worst failures that can occur for any property reliant on a pump station to handle their drainage system, while keeping long term benefits for our customers in mind.
